“Arguing or Reasoning?” | Part 2

Opportunities and the pace of ministry life are changing once again! It is hard to imagine that one year ago we were in the middle of lockdown. As the reopening continues, travel for ministry is expanding. I the past three weeks we have ministered in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Indiana, and West Virginia twice. I am preparing to fly to South Africa and Zimbabwe in late August. I believe the expanded reach we developed with online ministry in the past year remains strategic.

Last weekend we launched the Part 2 of our “Arguing or Reasoning?” series. 44 attended our Zoom debrief sessions afterwards. Over 120 individuals and several groups have already viewed the video including the employees of an architectural firm. I joined our contact with the company afterwards for a Zoom debrief. Thank you Father for the privilege of expanding the message of your kingdom!

“There is light at the end of this tunnel.”

Late last year while in prayer, I heard our Lord say, “There is light at the end of this tunnel.” In the last week or so, I have heard several news and political authorities say the same. It seems we are approaching a shift it the current Covid-19 situation. Invitations have begun to come in. Please pray for me as I seek for wisdom, particularly for travel ministry.

I continue to be fully engaged in using the tools at hand to build Jesus’ kingdom. I have 17 students from Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ecuador signed up to start a 12 week course in Homiletics (preaching) next Tuesday. I am using materials and videos which have been added to the LDR website and will be meeting weekly with the class via Zoom.

Disruption is Opportunity

There is light at the end of the tunnel!

For several years in December, I have set aside time to ask our Lord for direction for the coming year. I want to be prepared for the new year by seeing the big picture. This year was challenging. So much negativity. I heard our Lord say “There is light at the end of the tunnel!”

The pandemic and lockdowns around the world in 2020 had a profound impact on my life. Travel was virtually eliminated. The mission I to which I am called has not. In early 2020 I adjusted methods and focused much of my efforts on communicating virtually. I have been blessed to reach further and touch more individuals!

What about 2021? What will the new normal be like? I believe the coming months will provide unusual opportunities for Jesus’ disciples and for the church. My challenge to you is to be prepared, primed, to be at the starting gate of this next season. I record the message, “Disruption is Opportunity” several weeks ago. I believe it is relevant today. I pray it will challenge you!

Stepping into New Things

Linda and I are thankful for the opportunity to travel for ministry in February. There are limitations. Social distancing, frequent washing hands, etc., have become the norm. We are willing to work within the limitations, we are not willing to stand still! In February we ministered in person in the state of Washington, in Maryland and West Virginia. I frequently “traveled” via video conference to many places, including weekly meetings in the USA, England and the Philippines.

Stepping into New Things
I have been challenged in the last couple of weeks to focus on NEW things. I am thankful that despite the challenges of these days, there are fresh opportunities including the following.

NEW Webinar Project
We are preparing to launch a NEW webinar series, “Closing the Gap” April 19/20 which will address communication and relationship challenges. The teaching will be shorter, about 10 minutes. Our goal is to engage leaders a video conference discussion afterwards.  Please pray for this NEW outreach.

NEW Ministry Training Course
One aspect of our mission is to provide leadership training materials. A NEW course is being launched. “Homiletics, An Introduction to Preaching” is now available at LDR Online: Homiletics.

NEW Equipment and Skills
One year ago, I launched full speed ahead into the video and webinar arena. My early projects were quite limited in quality. My office conference room now is a video recording studio, our presentation is coming up!

Joy is Coming

It is a cold snowy day in Maryland. The dark skies seem to add to the feelings of discouragement and despair that are prevalent in the world around us. I have good news! As desperate as the world situation seems, God has not been, God is not surprised! He is the God of hope. I recorded this message, “Joy is Coming” a couple of weeks ago. I pray it will inspire you today.

Christ to the Philippines Rock District Anniversary Celebration in Manila

It is a cold snowy morning in Maryland today. I was prepared to travel to preach in West Virginia, the service was canceled. I am thankful I already preaching once today.

This morning I was blessed to minister online at the Christ to the Philippines Rock District Anniversary Celebration in Manila. I am writing to invite you to celebrate with our friends in the Philippines.

A recording of the entire service with clips from several of the related congregations can viewed here. (The introduction and preaching begins about the one hour point.)

or here is my message only:

2021 is here

2021 is here, and we are on the “move” for ministry. Linda and I enjoyed a nice break between Christmas and New Year’s Day. I appreciated a relaxed schedule after several months of intense ministry. Our January schedule is pretty much full. I have appointments scheduled most days with meetings, mentoring and teaching, and most are online.

-This weekend Linda and I travel to central PA.

-A week from this Sunday we travel to West Virginia, the following week to PA.

-Next week, I am video recording preaching for LifeLine Church in London England, and another message for the church where Aspher leads in Bulawayo which will be shown for Sunday services.

-I have several team meetings scheduled on Zoom including one in Frederick, the AIM team and LifeLine Intn.

One of the refreshing moments of the past week was taking time to reflect over the past year. Amazing! Who could have imagined?  We’ve had challenging, hard, and yet wonderful opportunities. My online ministry tools have multiplied and reaching hundreds here and overseas. I presently engaged in more mentoring relationships than ever before. I was invited to become a guest professor at a Seminary and a Bible college. Etc.! 2020 was a fruitful year for the kingdom in so many ways.
