Better Than Busy – Update from Terry King

While waiting quietly a couple of days ago, I heard the words, “Often doing less is enables one to do more.” This is quite a challenge for me. I like to be busy! My reality is a combination of factors have contributed to make “busy” more difficult. My challenge now is to focus the things the Holy Spirit is leading, avoiding the busy and focusing on the better. Do you  face the same challenge?

The internet is one tool which is making this possible. This morning, a Sunday, ministry connections will take me to three continents in real time. First early this morning to London, then to Manila, then to West Virginia and Maryland. This would have been impossible just a few short years ago.

EARN YOUR MINISTRY DIPLOMA AT AIM INSTITUTE

Three courses are starting in just a couple of weeks at AIM Institute; “General Epistles” with Lovemore Manaka from South Africa, “Homiletics” with Miguel Pabilonia from the Philippines facilitating my teaching videos and materials with a group gathering in upstate New York, and “Romans and Galatians” with Dan Haas from Illinois. (Details and registration at  www.aim-i.org)

This week, Miguel Pabilonia launched a second delivery of “Discover Your Purpose” in the Philippines. The response was so enthusiastic two sessions had to be organized. I spoke to the first group on Saturday and will speak to the second group today. James Ruark is coming this week to record classes for the new course “Mental Health and the Role of the Church,” and at the end of the month, Randy Vruggink will come to our “studio” to record “Local Church Mission and Vision.” I believe that part of my calling is to provide a platform for others to minister.

FOCUSED

Our calling and gifts have not changed! Teaching and mentoring leaders is at the core. I am following the pattern established by Paul and Barnabas, “After preaching the Good News in Derbe and making many disciples, Paul and Barnabas returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch of Pisidia, where they strengthened the believers. They encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God. Paul and Barnabas also appointed elders in every church With prayer and fasting, they turned the elders over to the care of the Lord, in whom they had put their trust. (Acts 1:21-23)

Your support is foundational to enabling us to press forward. Thank you!

For Jesus and HIS Kingdom,

Terry and Linda King

Ministry in Texas

Ministry in Granite Shoals, Texas was wonderful. John Dean and I ministered for three days at Christ Redeemer Church. It was inspiring to preach to people who are hungry for the presence and the word of God. We were blessed with many testimonies of the work of the Holy Spirit.

Jonathan Expands Online Ministry

Jonathan, our LDR intern, has initiated several online outreach groups. Over 500 individuals showed interest in joining these online groups to practice English and have conversations. Jonathan ended up scheduling approximately 150 participants across multiple sessions that he leads on a weekly basis. The internet breaks distance barriers. Participants are involved from Europe, Asia and South America!

Jonathan views this as an outstanding opportunity to engage with the lost, foster relationships, and ultimately share the gospel. In Jonathan’s own words, after leading these sessions for a month, “The online harvest is plentiful, but the online laborers are few! I believe that the Lord is opening up new frontiers in missions, and they are different from the ones we’ve been used to.”

Staying Local, but Going Global

Even a protective boot cannot keep me down! I had a procedure done on my right foot a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I have been wearing a boot and have been pretty much restricted to home. Ministry continues. Tuesday, I met with pastors in Manila, with business leaders in London. Tuesday and Wednesday I taught the Discover Your Leadership course for AIM Institute. Wednesday evening, I preached to 27 pastors in India. Thursday, I met with an eldership team in Pennsylvania and Friday I completed my 2 year term as the board chairman for the Greater Hagerstown Committee. Every day, I have had quality meetings with the LDR Intern, Jonathan Taniegra. And of course hours are invested in admin every day.

2023 Annual Retreat

We hosted 54 pastors, leaders and spouses for our annual retreat in Hagerstown. We were blessed with great worship, teaching from the Scriptures and fellowship. Ministers traveled from as far away as Michigan. Ministers attended from Zimbabwe, England and Ecuador.

Over the course of the twenty years in which we organized this event, a great level of friendship and camaraderie has developed. Part of the calling of AIM is to provide a safe place for leaders to minister to one another. During the retreat we were blessed to ordain two new members and welcome them to our family. We are growing!

Timing is Everything

Linda and I joined the Alliance Intl Ministries Team in New Braunfels for a “Spiritual Life Conference.” The local team chose, “The Promises of God” for the theme. Certainly relevant for these days of testing. I preached “Timing is Everything.” The video is available on the Terry King LDR You Tube channel. Click Here to view the teaching.

Jesus’ Prophecy in Our Day

Jesus declared the last great sign preceding His return will be, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14). Linda and I are thankful for this time when we see this prophecy coming to pass! We are living in a world of great confusion, and also hunger for the living God.
